Covid-19 work blues

It’s been a very long while since I last posted anything. I’m sure your all very aware of the global doom we are deep into now.

This has had a massive impact upon my life.

My wife left her job in Feb to look after her terminally ill mother and I was temporarily put on furlough leave which has now led to an actual redundancy. Needless to say it’s a difficult time when both of you don’t have any income to depend upon. That said, my post is not to talk about that but to look at the prospect of “what’s next”.

By that I mean as an IT guy do I transition into another role change or do I continue to digitally transform the world one project at a time?

If you were in my shoes with a developer/analyst background and team lead / tech consultant foreground, would you stick to the same or take a side step into something new? Maybe product owner or scrum master might take a fancy ? I’ve worked with both and in teams with a broad understanding myself it wouldn’t take much to transition or retrain. I have had a thought to an architect role maybe solutions architect or infrastructure architect. My last position was pretty much an architects role with team management and some wet work built in so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

If you were looking to change IT role, what positions look like the most exciting and interesting to you? I’d like to know.
